Richard Fizznoglia Obituary

Middletown, NY

Richard G. Fizznoglia, of Middletown, NY, a retired signal maintainer for Con Rail, and former special officer with the N.Y.P.D., and 27-year area resident, entered into rest on Monday, September 8, 2008 at his home in Middletown, NY. He was 71.

The son of the late James and Phyllis DeBelli Fizznoglia, he was born on October 24, 1936 in the Bronx, NY.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church and The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, both in Middletown. He was Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph's Church, a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, and former member of the Knight's of Columbus. His life's mission for over 30 years was spreading devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and through this mission, an outreach of support for the poor.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie Fizznoglia at home in Middletown; two sons, Richard M. Fizznoglia and his wife, MaryAnn of Acton, MA and Anthony T. Fizznoglia of Cottonwood, AZ; two grandchildren, Daniel and Vincent Fizznoglia; one sister, Minnie Reda of Kennesaw, GA, and many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents and brother, James Fizznoglia.

Friends may call at the Cornelius, Dodd and Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, on Thursday, September 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Friday, September 12, in The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 70 Carmelite Drive, Middletown. Entombment will follow in the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Roe,
Our deepest condolenses, Richard will be missed he was a wonderful person. I loved his many jokes especially El Milo story, his devotion to the Blessed Mother was an example to everyone. I love you both and you are very special to us.
