Linda Cimorelli Wutch

Linda Wutch Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Linda Cimorelli Wutch, a lifelong Newburgh resident, died at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital surrounded by family and friends, Sunday, September 14, 2008. She was 58.

Linda worked for the New York State Unified Court System for over 37 years, beginning her career as a stenographer for the Newburgh City Court in 1970. She then worked briefly at the Orange County District Attorney's office, and returned to the Newburgh City Court as the Chief Clerk. From 1991 until her retirement in January 2007, she served as confidential secretary to the Hon. Jeffrey G. Berry at the County Court in Goshen, NY.

Linda will be long remembered for her outspokenness, sharp wit, generosity of heart and spirit, and her steadfast loyalty. Whether you knew her for two minutes or two decades, you didn't forget her. She has been a good friend to many, and was known as the "go to" person in dealing with life's challenges and red tape. She loved get-togethers, playing cards and dancing, and the sound of a winning slot machine. Linda was also an avid animal lover, and a big fan of Bernie Williams and the New York Yankees.

Linda bowled with the Newburgh Women's Bowling Association for over 30 years and was presently serving on the Board of Directors and the Hall of Fame Committee; she participated in many local, state and national tournaments. She was a member of the Newburgh Free Academy Class of 1968 and was still serving on the reunion committee. Linda was at one time a part owner of the former Tom Foolery, a popular bar in Cornwall, NY.

Linda is survived by her daughter Stacey Wutch and grandson Giani Hill at home; sister Jeanne Cimorelli of Montgomery, N.Y.; brother Mike Cimorelli of Newburgh, N.Y., his wife Josephine, and their children Michael, Shawn, Brett, JennyLynn and Nicholas; and her mother Roberta "Bobbie" Cimorelli of Newburgh, N.Y. Linda was predeceased by her father Mike Cimorelli of the former Cimorelli Bros. Body Shop on River Road in New Windsor, and her brother Bill Cimorelli.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 16th and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sep. 17th at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, N.Y. My regards to Linda's family...I remember her as being the dynamo pillar of the party, how she loved to dance (as we all did) at our Friday or Saturday dances and her extraordinary unexpected random kindnesses. I was looking forward to seeing her again at our 40th NFA Reunion.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, ""I welcome you.""

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......""My day was not in vain.""
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

It seems like just yesterday we were all at H-Y dancing to our favorite songs. School days at good old South Junior High and NFA. Although we did not see each other over these recent years, we never forget those who touched us with such love. The years have flown by so fast. So many dear friends are gone. Peace to you Linda. No more pain. Say hi to our all of friends in Heaven with you.
Your family will be in my prayers.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
