Donald Cotthaus Obituary

Clintondale, NY

Donald R. Cotthaus of Clintondale, NY, formerly of Palisades, NY and a longtime resident of the area, died Sunday, September 14, 2008, at home with his family at his side. He was 67.

The son of the late Harry and Helen Harris Cotthaus, he was born February 8, 1941 in Nyack, NY.

He served in the Army during Vietnam Era. He was the former Owner/Operator of Don's Mobil Station in Pearl River, former Owner/Operator of Don's Service Center in Maybrook, and worked for over 10 years with his son at Automotive Audio in Newburgh. Don also worked for Amthor's in Walden, drove for Halick Lumber, R.C. Hermans, and Don enjoyed traveling throughout the country with Orange County Choppers and welding and fabricating.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Lillian E. Schoonmaker, at home; son, Clayton Cotthaus and his wife, Julianna; Melyssa and their son, Chase of Walden; brother, Harry "Ward" Cotthaus of Florida; sister, Sharon Hansen of Warwick; and three nephews: Harry & Glenn Cotthaus, and Billy Hansen.

Visitation will be Friday, September 19, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Millspaugh Funeral home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 20, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor John Vandenoever will officiate. Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.

Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors; 845-778-3200.
