Cornelius Caplice Obituary

Airmont, NY

Cornelius (Neil) Caplice of Airmont, NY, died September 15, 2008 at home.

He was born in Manhattan on May 28, 1933, the son of Michael J. and Mary (Mahoney) Caplice.

He graduated from St. George Academy, New York City. He served four years in the US Navy in Cuba. He was employed by the NYPD for 30 years. He received his degree in Criminal Justice from NYIT.

He was a member of the NYPD-PBA, Holy Name Society and Emerald Society, the Rockland County Shields, the NYCPD 10-13 Organization and the American Legion Post 1447.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Betty (Doran) Caplice. He adored his five girls and four sons-in-law: Mary Elizabeth and Craig Bunger of Alameda, CA, Teresa and John Caoili of Lagrangeville, NY, Maureen and Richard Zecchini of Campbell Hall, NY, Jean and Michael Stemkowski of Highland Mills, NY and Anne Marie Caplice of Lindenwold, NJ; his brother, Richard J. Caplice, Sr. of Cornwall, NY; his sister, Sr Mary P. Caplice, CND of Yonkers, NY; his brother, Bro Stephen Caplice, FSC of Manhattan, NY. He cherished his eight grandchildren, Brenden, Jennifer and Emily Caoili, Richard, Tara and Edward Zecchini and Olivia and Matthew Stemkowski.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, September 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Nanuet.

Friends may visit at Sniffen-Sagala Funeral Home, Rt. 59, Spring Valley, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 18.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 10 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956-3505 or Make-a-Wish Foundation, PO Box 97104, Washington, DC 20090-7104 in Neil's name.
