Sheldon Hadden Obituary

Liberty, NY

Sheldon L. Hadden of Liberty, NY, a retired civil engineer and a longtime area resident, died Monday, September 15, 2008 in the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. He was 83.

The son of the late Sheldon L. and Florence Jensen Hadden, he was born January 6, 1925 in Liberty, NY.

Sheldon served Our Country in the US Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations with the 24th Infantry and he was awarded the Bronze Star for participating in the New Guinea Campaign. He was a graduate of the Liberty High School, Syracuse University and had been employed by the DEP of New York City. He is a member and former officer of the Roscoe NY O&W Railway Museum, a member of the Lake Muskoday Homeowners Assoc., a former member of the Town Village Golf Club and he was an avid NY Yankee fan.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Anderson Hadden, at home; two sons, Clark A. Hadden and his wife, Nancy of Livingston Manor and Stephen L. Hadden of Woodbourne; one daughter, Susan L. Hadden of Livingston Manor; one sister, Vida Berry of Lake Katrine; two grandchildren, Jon P. Hadden and Vanessa E. Hadden and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Hadden.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 18 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 19 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Jearl Wallace will officiate.

Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty.

Memorial contributions is his name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, 81 So. Main Street, Liberty, NY 12754; the Sullivan County ARC, 162 East Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701 or a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harris Funeral Home, Liberty; 845-292-0001 or 845-439-5200.
