Carmella Monfria Obituary

Otisville, NY

Carmella M. Monfria, a retired supervising housekeeper for the former Otisville Training School for Boys, and a life-long area resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at St. Joseph's Place at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. She was 86 years old.

The daughter of Frank and Filomena Ricciardi Monfria, she was born on January 4, 1922 in Port Jervis, NY. Carmella was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Otisville, NY. She served on the Altar Rosary Society at the church as well. She was also a member of Mt. Hope Senior Citizens and the Otisville Senior Citizens.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph's Place for all the loving care given to Carmella during her stay. Thank you also to relatives and friends who visited and sent cards through the years.

Her survivors include three nieces, Irene Paffenroth of Port Jervis, NY, Sherry Innella of St. Petersburg, FL and Caroline Neilsen of Port Jervis, NY; a nephew, Louis Innella of Port Jervis, NY; several cousins including Grayce Ricciardi of Matamoras, PA, and Katherine Ryback of Port Jervis, NY; and her long-time caregiver, Mary Ann Masten, of Newburgh, NY. She was predeceased by two step-brothers, Louis Innella and Frank Innella; her long-time companion, Charles Cambareri and her step-father, Genari Innella.

At Carmella's request, there will be no visitation hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 20, at 10 a.m. in the Holy Name of Jesus Church, 45 Highland Ave., Otisville, NY. Monsignor Peter Tran Van Phat will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, in Otisville, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church, PO Box 597, Otisville, NY 10963.
