Peter Daly Obituary

Port Jervis, NY

Mr. Peter B. Daly of Port Jervis, a lifetime resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Park Manor Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. He was 87.

He was born June 29, 1921 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late James Michael and the late Margaret McNeill Daly.

He was a decorated combat veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army and served 22 months as a German P.O.W. He was employed for many years by Levin Furniture Andmore Swimwear. He was a life member of the VFW Post #161, and the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight.

Surviving are two brothers, Jim Daly and his wife, Charlotte of Aberdeen, NJ and John Daly and his wife, Nancy of Colorado Springs, CO; his loving sister, Harriet Adele "Dell" Daly of Port Jervis. Area relatives include: Elizabeth Hawkins and her brother, Edward of Matamoras, PA, Margaret Andersen and her husband, Frank of Burlingham, NY, as well as many caring nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Hawkins and brother, Daniel J. Daly.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Monday, September 22, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

Funeral services will be held today, Monday, September 22, with a prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY. Burial with Military honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY.
