Rose Gardner Obituary

New Paltz, NY

Rose Mary Gardner, age 81, of New Paltz, NY, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at home.

Mrs. Gardner was born November 7, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick and the late Margaret (Schwartz) Simmons. She married Guy M. Gardner on September 28, 1952 in New Paltz, NY. She has lived in New Paltz since 1950.

Rose was a member of the Reformed Church of New Paltz, where she has served as a deacon; the American Legion Auxiliary; Ladies Guild member and past president.

She was employed by Ulster County, Kingston, NY as a computer operator.

She is survived by her husband, Guy M. Gardner; sons: Guy S. Gardner of Rexford, NY and Charles N. Gardner of Somers, NY; daughters, Patricia Snider of Colonie, NY and Cynthia Feuerman of Bethel, CT; sisters, Margaret Martin of Ocala, FL and Ruth Jenkins of Rifton, NY; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers: Charles and Frank Simmons.

Calling hours will be Monday, September 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 S. Putt Corners Rd., New Paltz, NY.

The Funeral will be Tuesday, September 23, at 10 a.m. at the Reformed Church of New Paltz, 92 Huguenot St., New Paltz, with the Rev. Howard B. Major III officiating. Burial will follow in New Paltz Rural Cemetery, Plains Rd., New Paltz, NY.

Memorials may be made to Reformed Church of New Paltz, 92 Huguenot St., New Paltz, NY 12561 or the Hospice Foundation, Inc., Memorial Gift Program, 34 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.
