Elizabeth Reed Obituary

White Lake, NY

Elizabeth C. Reed, a longtime area resident, died on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 94.

She was born March 26, 1914 in Nanuet, NY, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Marie Horak Ellek.

She was a retired office clerk at Bloomingdale's Department Store in Manhattan. Elizabeth was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Mongaup Valley; the Bethel Catholic Club; the Bethelites; Bethel Senior Citizens and the AARP. She was also a volunteer at Hamilton Ave. Hospital in Monticello and was past President of the PTA for School #126, Astoria, Queens.

Survivors include her son, Alfred M. Reed, Jr. and his wife, Maria of White Lake; her two grandchildren, Michael K. Reed of Tampa, FL and Mark Reed and his wife, Veronica of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, and her great-granddaughter, Bella Marie Reed. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Reed, Sr. in 1996, and her sister, Tillie Strader.

There will be no visitation.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Mongaup Valley. The Rev. John Tran will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Route 17B, Bethel, NY, following the Mass.

Many thanks to all the staff at Sullivan County Adult Care Center, who gave such compassionate care to Elizabeth for the past five years. Thanks also to the Nurses at Catskill Regional Medical Center for the care they gave.
