Plattekill, NY

John Albert Klein, age 94, an 80-year resident of Plattekill, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY.

Mr. Klein was born September 17, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Albert and the late Emilia (Koch) Klein.

He was the owner and operator of Klein's Welding, Plattekill, NY. Former member of the New York National Guard, 20 year chairman of the Plattekill Republican Committee, Treasurer of the Ulster County Republican Committee, 58 year member of the Plattekill Fire District, Commissioner of the Plattekill Fire District, Chairman of the Town of Plattekill ZBA, board member of the Bethlehem Rod and Gun Club. Founding member of the Southern Catskill Anglers, and the Catskill Fly Fishing Center of Roscoe, NY. Member of the Elizabethtown Fish and Game Club, the Bouquet River Association, and the National Rifle Association. Former owner and builder of Klein's Lake.

Survived by niece: Rita Klein and several cousins. Predeceased by: wife: Wilma Sigmund Klein.

Calling hours will be Thursday, September 25, from 4-6 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 S. Putt Corners Rd., New Paltz, NY.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 26, at 10 a.m. at Modena Rural Cemetery, Route 32 S., Modena, NY.
