Terry Forshay Obituary

Terry Lynn Forshay, of Willowemoc, NY, formerly of Central Valley, NY, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. She was 64.

The daughter of the late Edward and Charlotte Brockmeyer Burke, she was born on July 8, 1944 in Hackensack, NJ.

She and her husband, David A. Forshay, together ran a custom kitchen business, Kitchens By Forshay, as well as a sales representative company called Forshay Associates, for about 30 years. They were a wonderful business team, best friends and devoted partners. Terry also loved gardening and was a member of the Central Valley Garden Club. Once she moved to Sullivan County she became a Master Gardener through the Sullivan County Cornell Cooperative Extension and remained an active volunteer. In recent years, she also became very active with Sullivan County Renaissance projects, both in Livingston Manor and in Neversink. She especially loved painting Neversink's barn quilts and taking part in the Willowernoc Historic Kiosk.

Terry was a kind person and an energetic, fun, smart and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a love for good food shared with family and dear friends. She loved sitting on the porch with her husband, David, after a hard day of work, watching the birds, flowers and trees. She was loved by many and will be missed deeply.

She is survived by her husband, David, at home; two daughters, Karen Fischer and husband, Mike and their son, Robert of Monroe and Jacquelyn Wilson and husband, Geoff and their son, Andrew, of North Woodstock, NH.

Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24 at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street and Buckley Road, Liberty, NY.

Dave and girls,
I am deeply sorry to hear about Terry's sudden illness, and your loss. Terry was a wonderful person, and I have great memories of talking with her about gardening when we were in the CVGC together, and taking my boys down to your house for trick or treating before I moved off of Dunderberg Rd! Terry made a great lunch one day for us (on the block girls) where she sauteed a dish with fresh spinache thrown in the pan and it was delicious! Please know that she will be missed by many friends and loved ones who will hold on to their memories! Clare
