Port Charlotte, FL

Franklin J. "Beef" Miller of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on September 14, 2008, at his residence.

Son of the late J. Joseph and Emma Reiger Miller, he was born in Newburgh, NY on December 17, 1912.

Beef was an avid golfer and longtime employee of the DuPont Co. in Newburgh. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he proudly served in World War II.

He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Proctor Miller in 1985.

His is survived by one sister, E. Marie Donnelly of Port Charlotte, FL and three nieces and one nephew, Barbara (Robert) Miller of Newburgh, Joseph (Helaine) Hemingway of Canandaigua, NY, Barbara (Steve) Dietrich of Fredericksburg, VA, Susan Miller of Newburgh and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Internment will be at the convenience of the family.

The Bell family all remember Uncle Franklin and Aunt Thelma and their dogs. They always brought fun times when they visited next door. Our sympathies to Mrs. D., Barbara, Bob, Greg, Scott and Jennifer and all family members.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. I remember Franklin and Thelma from Thompson Street and the hikes we used to go on with Jack. I even worked for Franklin for a short while at DuPont. I have many memories of Franklin and Thelma which I pass along to my Children and Grand Children. They can't believe we used to hike over Snake Hill and up Mt Beacon and around the Country Club looking for balls. He will surely be missed.

Marie, Barbara M., Barbara D., Susan, and Joe. Was so very sorry to read of Franklin's passing. I remember him very well from the lake house on Beaver Dam. My condolences to all.
