Helen Leshner Obituary

Monticello, NY

Helen Rotgerberg Leshner, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. She passed away after fighting a long illness and was at home surrounded by family.

She was the only daughter of the late Hyman and Dora Rotgerberg and was born on May 26, 1927 in Paris, France.

Helen met the love of her life, Mischa Leshner, as a guest at The Harmony Country Club in Monticello. She took on an active role in the hotel business until its sale in 1967. Helen was best known in the community as being an outstanding 4th grade teacher at the Rutherford Elementary School in Monticello. After 20 years of teaching, many students would still recognize their favorite teacher, Mrs. Leshner.

Helen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Mischa Leshner; three daughters: Susan Leshner, Jane and Joe Crystal, and Linda Pavlick; five grandchildren: Richard & his new bride, Rebecca Leshner, Robyn, Lauren & Jesse Pavlick, and Vikki Crystal. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Jack Leshner & family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, at 1 p.m. at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway in Monticello. Burial will follow at the Temple Sholom Cemetery on Southwoods Road in Monticello.

The family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550. The family will forever be thankful for the help and support Hospice provided during the last months of Helen's life.
