Joey O'Connell Obituary

Monticello, NY

Joey O'Connell of Monticello, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 54.

The son of the late Joseph O'Connell and Gabrielle Bates O'Connell, he was born November 20, 1953 in New York City.

Joey was the proud Director of Education for Never Alone Adolescents Center in Hurley and was very devoted to his students and co-workers.

He is survived by his fiancé, Karen Murray of Sunnyside, Queens; two sisters, Cate Bonanno & her husband, Paul of So. Plainfield, NJ and Bernadette O'Connell of Wurtsboro; a niece, Jillian O'Connell of Woodside, Queens, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Cyril O'Connell.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, from 6-8 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday evening, at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., Lower Hudson Valley Chapter, 200 White Plains Road, Suite 523, Tarrytown, NY 10591.

JOEY YOUR PASSING WAS VERY UNEXPECTED, AND WE FEEL LIKE WE HAVE LOST A BROTHER,YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR PRAYERS AND IN OUR THOUGHTS.
