Kenneth Polokoff Obituary

Formerly of Campbell Hall, NY

Kenneth A. Polokoff, 60, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Campbell Hall, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 31, 2008.

Ken was born October 19, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY, to Jack and Mildred Polokoff.

Ken graduated Midwood High School and Brooklyn College with a BA degree in Economics. He also attended Baruch College from 1969 to 1974 completing 30 credits towards his MBA. Ken had over a 40-year career as a Corporate Bonds Trader.

Ken had many interests within the Arts and Theatre, Social Outreach, Public Education and Sports. He was on the Board of Directors for the Arts and Business Council of New York City, National Improvisational Theatre (Vice Chairman), Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College (Executive Committee), Vineyard Theatre (New York) Actor's Theatre of Nantucket and Central Unitarian Church. He was also a member of the Unitarian Universalist All Souls Fellowship in New York City on Lexington Avenue at 80th Street, Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palisades, Englewood, NJ and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton, FL. He was also very active in each of these fellowships on the Board of Directors, as well as on many committees.

In 1968, Ken was married to Patricia Polokoff, of Pine Bush, NY and had two daughters, Penny Polokoff–Zakarin of Boynton Beach, FL and Joely Polokoff of Sebring, FL, and raised two stepsons, Glen Polokoff of Otisville, NY and Stuart Polokoff of East Rockaway, NY.

In 1988, he married Karen Topol of Boca Raton, FL and raised his son, Dylan Topol of Boca Raton, FL and his daughter, Virginia Lockwood Zisa of Lagrangeville, NY. Ken also has six grandchildren.

Ken was an avid golfer and recently started to enjoy Pilates with his partner, Bryna Cain of Boca Raton, FL. Ken is also survived by his mother, Mildred Polokoff of Brooklyn, NY; two nieces, Cheryl and Beth Spinner, both of New York, NY; an aunt and many cousins. Ken was predeceased by his father, Jack Polokoff; stepmother, Sylvia Polokoff of Brooklyn, NY, and his sister, Nancy Spinner of New Brunswick, NJ.

Two memorial services will be held for Ken; Sunday, October 19, at 4:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton, FL on St. Andrews Blvd. and Tuesday, October 21, at 6 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist All Souls Fellowship of New York City on Lexington Avenue at 80th Street.

Ken was an organ donor and requested to be cremated. Ken's family requests that in lieu of flowers, please honor his memory by making a contribution to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation; www.bafound.org. An endowment fund will be started in his name.
