Rita Mastrorocco Obituary

New Windsor, NY

Rita Irene Petro Mastrorocco, of New Windsor, entered into rest on Thursday, October 16, 2008 in St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. She was 79.

Daughter of the late Agustus and Elizabeth Thompson Petro, she was born December 18, 1928 in Newburgh. She married Edward F. Mastrorocco on May 15, 1976, who survives at home.

A family statement reads: "Rita will be forever missed and never forgotten. May God hold her in the palm of his hand."

Rita was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed gambling trips to Foxwoods and was a computer buff. She worked for many years as the office manager for Steel Style, Inc. in Newburgh.

In addition to her loving husband of 32 years, Edward, she is survived by her loving daughter, Debra Collins of New Windsor; granddaughter, Amber-Leigh Van Houten Masiero of Wilmington, NC; great-grandson, Aaron Masiero of Wilmington, NC; brother, John A. Petro and his wife, Martha of New Windsor; sister, Florence Yannone of Newburgh; sisters-in-law, Margaret Frederico Petro, Shirley Evans Petro, and Marie Ciaccio Petro, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, James, William and Richard Petro.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20 in the funeral home, with Father John Vondras officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
