Sparrowbush, NY
Mr. Walter Henry Bloomer, Jr. of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Northern Manner Nursing Home. He was 90.
He was born September 13, 1918 in Sparrowbush, NY, the son of the late Walter Henry, Sr. and the late Harriet Chambers Bloomer. He was married for 53 years to his loving wife, Barbara Bloomer.
He was a member of the Sparrowbush United Methodist Church, an affiliate member of Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis. He was the President of the Delaware Valley Prayer Fellowship. He was the Lay Leader and Treasurer of Sparrowbush. Walt was also a Sunday School Teacher and the Treasurer of the local AARP in Sparrowbush. He is a Board Member of the Pine Hill, Rural Valley and Laurel Grove Cemetery Associations.
A family statement reads: "He was a loving husband and father who loved his children. He graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1935 where he then went on to Columbia University where he received a Business Degree in Accounting. Between his High School and College education he worked at Eddy Farm as a Golf Pro. He will be greatly missed."
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Bloomer at home; one son, David Bloomer of Sparrowbush; one daughter, Lynda McCreery and her husband, Joseph of Cuddebackville; one brother-in-law, William Landmesser; four cousins: William Morris, Robert Morris, David Morris and Robert Bloomer; also several nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 18, at 2 p.m. at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sparrowbush, NY, with the Rev. Robert D. Cassidy officiating.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 26, at 2 p.m. in the Drew United Methodist Church, 49-51 Sussex St., Port Jervis, NY.

Walter & and his wife, Barbara, were such wonderful neighbors and Walter was my Sunday School Teacher. He will be missed by all. Our condolences go out to his family.
