Andrew Cos Obituary

New Windsor, NY

Andrew J. Cos, 54, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, entered into rest, Sunday, October 19, 2008, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his bedside.

Andrew was born on September 30, 1954 in Manhattan, NY, son of Josephine Cos and the late Anthony Cos, and grew up in Garnerville, NY. He attended North Rockland High School and was a three-sport athlete in football, baseball, and wrestling. He received his Associates Degree from Rockland Community College and received his Bachelor's Degree from Mt. Saint Mary's College of Newburgh in 1995. After marrying his best friend and love of his life, Janet, he moved to New Windsor, NY, where he resided until his death.

Andrew was a devoted husband, loving father, and a compassionate, hard-worker, with a great sense of humor, who channeled all his energy and zest for life to everyone around him. He was a loyal employee of Staples Distribution Center of Montgomery, NY and United States Gypsum of Stony Point, NY. His passions in life were spending time with his family, camping, doing home improvement projects, and enjoying sports. He was an active parishioner at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in New Windsor, NY.

In addition to his wife, Janet, Andrew is survived by a son, Travis Cos of Rochester, NY; a daughter, Jessica Cos of Walden, NY; a granddaughter, Alissa Penney; his mother, Josephine Cos of Garnerville, NY; three brothers: Anthony Cos, Joseph Cos and wife, Laurie, and Christopher Cos and wife, Valerie; his sister, Lynn Figurski and husband, Ted; and a loving supportive network of extended family, friends, and co-workers.

The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday evening, October 21, from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, October 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Coloni FH, 3001 Rt. 9W, New Windsor, NY 12553.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, at St. Joseph's Church in New Windsor. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in New Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may me made to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.

Arrangements are entrusted to Coloni FH in New Windsor, 845-561-0238.
