Walter Smith Obituary

Middletown, NY

Walter Damien Smith of Middletown, died on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at his home. He was 28.

The son of Howard F. Smith and Gail Simpson Smith, he was born on August 18, 1980 in West Point, NY.

A family statement reads: "He was a wonderful young man with a heart of gold and will be missed by all who knew him."

Survivors include his mother, Gail Smith of Middletown; his father, Howard E. Smith of Tennessee; his brother, Howard E. Smith, Jr. of Middletown. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and his dear friend, Gene Winters. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Richard Warner and his grandparents, Walter and Inez Simpson and Howard and Katherine Smith.

Visitation hours will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., 72 W. Main St., Middletown, NY. Funeral services will be held during the visitation hours on Sunday. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

I met Walter through a customer of mine for many years. I grew to reallly look forward to seeing Gene and Walter on Sat&Sun afternoons.
Walt always had a smile on his face and was a nice break in the day. I will miss that dearly. To his family and friends My thoughts and prayers are with you. May you help each other through this hard time.
