Charles Richling Obituary

Westtown, NY

Mr. Charles R. Richling of Westtown, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, with his family by his side. He was 73.

He was born August 5, 1935 in Pequannock, NJ, the son of the late Charles and the late Mollie Gunderman Richling. He was married to the late Vera Richling for 20 years.

He worked as a Hot Tar Roofer for Simpson Roofing in Patterson, NJ for many years. A family statement reads: "He was a loving father and grandfather who had a love for all animals, especially farm animals. He will be greatly missed."

Surviving are two daughters, Charlene McCaffery and her companion, Andy at home, and JoAnn Defreese and her husband, Robert of Westtown, NY; two grandsons, Darren and Daniel McCaffery of Westtown, NY; additionally, there are three daughters; one son; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Jimmy.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, on Sunday, November 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral Services will follow at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 2, at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Iannone officiating. Cremation will be at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Charles R. Richling to the American Lung Assn. of Hudson Valley, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006.
