Shirley Worthley Obituary

Newburgh - Shirley M. Worthley, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston. She was 75.

The daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Doerr, she was born November 22, 1931 in Newburgh.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she volunteered at the senior luncheons. She was also an avid volunteer for Mid Hudson Animal Aid. Shirley always responded to help animals in need, whenever she was called.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Worthley at home; daughters, Deborah Worthley of Lake Katrine and Janet Ferguson and husband Gary of the Town of Newburgh; granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica; and great-grandson, Isaiah; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Norman Doerr.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 16 at White and Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. Plank Rd., Town of Newburgh.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 17 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Fostertown Road, Town of Newburgh. The Rev. Charles Gockel will officiate.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the Mid-Hudson Animal Aid, 54 Simmons Lane, Beacon, NY 12508.
