Alice J. Hicks

Port Jervis - Alice J. Hicks, age 79, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at St. Joseph's Place, Port Jervis.

The daughter of the late Robert E. Aldrich and Elsie Decker Aldrich, Alice was born in Port Jervis on June 30, 1928.

She married William J. Hicks Jr. on February 16, 1947.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years; five sons, Robert W. Hicks, James Hicks and his wife Sherri, Gerald Hicks and his wife Nadja, Kenneth Hicks and his wife Shaun, William Hicks and his wife Dawn; four daughters, Joyce Thompson and her husband Robert, Jennie Olawski and her husband Doug, Carol Ann Green and her husband Carroll, Cindy Mentz and her husband Neil; 24 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Anthony Steven Hicks; her granddaughter, Christina Hicks; and her grandson, Edward Dolshun.

Alice was a life-member of Tri-State Naval Ship #7241, Ladies Auxiliary, Port Jervis.

A family statement reads, "She was a beloved wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She touched the lives of many others and was a very kind-hearted and loving person."

Friends may call at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Tuesday, October 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stephen Huston officiating.

Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
