Wayne Wagner Obituary

Hyde Park - Wayne S. Wagner, 85, a longtime Hyde Park resident and previously of Pennsylvania, died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

Wayne worked at Schatz Federal Bearing Co. in Poughkeepsie, and Dutchess Community College until his retirement. A farmer at heart, he enjoyed tending to his gardens and animals. He was a member of The Poughkeepsie Moose Club and Germania Hall. He volunteered with Hyde Park Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed dancing and bowling. Mr. Wagner served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Born in Sacramento, Pa. on March 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Charles and Annie Saltzer Wagner.

Survivors include his wife, Antoinette (Porfirio) Wagner, who resides at home; a daughter, Dorothy Janke and husband, William, of Staatsburg; four grandchildren, JoAnn Janke of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., William Janke III and wife, Meredith, of Gardiner, Richard Janke of New Windsor and Michael Janke and wife, Marci, of Pine Bush; six great-grandchildren, Nina Grace, Evan, Lila, Riley, Jacqueline and Gavin Janke; a sister, Ruth Fetter of Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Lena McPeck and husband, Robert, of Staatsburg, and Dora Schulhoff of Clinton Corners; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Verna, Grace, Elva, and Edna, and brothers, Russell and Allen.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, November 7 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Wuerz officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
