William Cook Obituary

Newburgh - William R. Cook, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Monday, November 12, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern. He was 87. Son of the late William J. and Blanche Lake Cook, he was born June 27, 1920 in Newburgh. He was married to Jane M. Cook, who predeceased him in 1991. William retired as parts manager from Broadway Garage. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as an aircraft mechanic. He earned the American Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with 5 Oak Leaf clusters, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He is survived by his loving children, Thomas W. Cook and his wife, Paula, Robert F. Cook and his wife, Brenda, all of Newburgh, and Nancy J. Catanzaro and her husband, Joseph of Florida; grandchildren, Jill M. Ruberte of Arizona, Thomas W. Cook Jr., Joseph and Kevin Catanzaro, all of Florida; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Jayne, Connor, Madyson and Tyler; and his friend, Anne Monaster of Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Cook. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will be take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 16, in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of the late Jane Cook to the American Cancer Society, 419 E. Main St., Middletown, NY 10940. Grandpa...I am going to miss you soo much!! You will live in my heart and my memories and through the stories I will tell Alexandra,Connor and Madyson.
