John Barley Obituary
Son of the late John D. and Ethel McCauley Barley Sr., he was born on March 21, 1931 in Newburgh.
John was loved by all, especially his best friend, Timothy A. Smith. They were known as "The Old Man & the Kid". He will be missed by all."
John was an avid golfer, hunter and sportsman extraordinaire. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians- Division #2, and Black Rock Fish & Game. He was also a member of the Ulster county English Dart League. He won second place in the Atlantic City American world-class English dart championship.
He is survived by his wife Anna S. Barley of Goshen; companion of many years, Bev Pavlik; children: Noreen Carter and her husband, Craig, of Tennessee, John D. Barley III and his wife, Emily, of Newburgh, Ethel Welsh and her husband, Greg, of Tennessee, Edith Briscoe and her fiancé, Timothy Smith, of Marlboro, and Jodi Conklin of Newburgh; two brothers, James H. and Richard A. Barley; three sisters: Edith L. Rylant, Ethel M. Barley Rapp and Gladys E. Sanders; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His brother, Walt Barley Sr. and sisters, Sally Taylor and Maxine E. Barley, predeceased him.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. on Friday, November 23rd at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. in Newburgh.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 24th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to Tribute Program, St. Jude Chil-dren's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942.
