Janet Jones Obituary

Washingtonville, NY - Janet Jones, of Washingtonville, formerly of the Bronx, a homemaker, died November 22, 2007 at Arden Hill Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 83.

The daughter of John and Janet (Baxter) Purdie, she was born January 7, 1924 in Scotland.

She was a member of Washingtonville Blue & Gold and First Presbyterian Church in Washingtonville.

A family statement reads, "She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Janet loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her furry friends, Daisy, Chopper and Sadie."

Survivors include her husband, Joseph M. Jones; daughters, Laura and her husband Bruce Hermann and Heather and her husband Thomas Durney; grandchildren, David and his wife Katie, Christopher and Jason; great-grandchildren, Joseph, David and Luke. Janet was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Dempster and Ina Jones and one brother, Walter Purdie.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 26 from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. Cremation is private.
