Fred DiDonato Obituary

Rock Tavern, NY - Fred J. DiDonato, a construction operator for Engineers Local 825, Middletown and lifelong area resident, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at home. He was 82.

The son of Felix and Josephine Fasciano DiDonato, he was born August 3, 1925 in New Windsor.

He was a WW II Army veteran and a life-member of the Town of Newburgh VFW Post 1161 and member of the Middletown Elks Club 1097.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Gordineer DiDonato at home; one son, Richard DiDonato and his wife Fanny of Rock Tavern; two daughters, Josephine McElroy and her husband Kenneth of Rock Tavern and Jane DiDonato of Gardiner; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Frederick DiDonato; five brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, December 9 at Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 10 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Montgomery.

Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Montgomery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick DiDonato Jr. Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Mary's Church, Montgomery or the American Lung Association.
