Gertrude Goldschmidt Obituary

Goshen- Gertrude Cary Goldschmidt, formerly of Blooming Grove, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, December 5, 2007 at Elant in Goshen, N.Y. She was 97.

The daughter of Theron Cary & Lillian J. Lawrence, she was born on the family farm on the outskirts of Middletown, N.Y.

She often recalled on many occasions to her friends her riding the farm horse into Middletown in order to attend Academy Avenue School. She was a graduate of Middletown High School.

She was employed by the Orange County Department of Public Works for many years as a senior account clerk and receptionist under the Commissioner of Public Works, Louis Cascino. She was also as a secretary for the Town Highway Superintendents Association. Her husband, Leon V. Goldschmidt, predeceased her.

Peter Botti would like to express his deepest gratitude to the staff at Elant for their excellent care, love and attention given to Mrs. Goldschmidt over these last several years.

Visitation hours will be from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.

A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with interment immediately following in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown.
