John MacDonald Obituary

Loveland, OH - John H. MacDonald, a former longtime resident of Monroe and a nine-year resident of Loveland, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio. He was 95.

The son of the late John Bertram MacDonald and Sarah Edith Rakestraw MacDonald, he was born on August 7, 1912 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was the widower of Helen Warga MacDonald.

He graduated from Princeton University, class of 1933, with a degree in chemical engineering. John was a retired Chemical Engineer for S.B. Penick/CPC Corn Products in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. He was an avid bridge player; a member of the American Chemical Society; former Plant Manager for Nepera Chemical Company; former employee of Merck in Rahway, New Jersey; a former member and vestryman of Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe; member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, Ohio; and a former member and chairman of the Town of Monroe Planning Board.

Survivors include his son, John B. MacDonald and his wife, Ronnee of Monroe; daughters, Anne M. McIntyre and her husband, Christopher of Loveland, Ohio and Martha J. Price and her husband, John of Cobleskill; nephew, Dennis Lynch of Laurel, Maryland; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Doris Blasco and Mary Jane Lynch.

Visitation will be today, December 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11, at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 1 Forest Ave., Monroe, with the Rev. Scott Barker officiating. Interment will follow in Seamanville Cemetery in Monroe.

Martha --Steve and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to you and the family. I have many fond memories of both your parents. Good times spent at your home, shopping trips to Newark and the beach. He lived a good, long life and was lucky to have such a loving family.
