George Wimer Obituary

George Douglas "Doug" Wimer 1926 ~ 2009 George Douglas "Doug" Wimer, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2009 after suffering a stroke. He passed away in Cedar City, UT surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born to Ruth Clegg and George Jacob Wimer in Heber City, UT on July 5, 1926 in the same house and same room where his mother was born. As a child Doug moved many places with his family. He graduated from Ventura Jr. College where he loved and played football. He met Ilene Earl in Berkeley, CA and they were married September 4, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Doug served in the US Army from 1946-1948 and was stationed in Japan. He then attended USC graduating in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Doug worked for North American Rockwell for 30 years and retired after a successful and rewarding career. Doug loved his family, friends, his home in Heber, his pets, TC, live steam train and many other interests. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He lived a rich and fulfilling life. He was loved and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife Ilene of Cedar City, UT; daughter Shelley (Chris) Dahlin of Cedar City, UT; grandchildren: Ryan (Brenna) Ball, Cameron (Candy) Ball, and Jocelyn Ball; great-grandchildren: Rylie, Rune, Kharma and Sophie; his son Tracy (Jill) Wimer, Mt. Green, UT; grandchildren: Brittany, Dallin (Aubrey), Missy and Landon Wimer. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, 2009, 11:00 a.m. in the Daniels Canyon LDS Ward, 2400 South Mill Road, Heber City. Friends may call on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Interment in the services in the Heber City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alzheimersassociation.com Condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected]
