Edwin Abraham Miller

Eddie "Bozo" Miller Born Edwin Abraham Miller; passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2008 with family by his side. A true legend has ended. Bozo was bigger than life. He was a unique and complex man whose accomplishments and generosity spanned decades. He was born in San Francisco, raised in Berkeley, and settled in Oakland. His parents were both in vaudeville, and he traveled the circuit with them as a young boy. A born show-off, he learned early how to draw an audience around himself. He took great pride in telling of his pranks and the outcome of them. No one could eat more, drink more, or spend more than Bozo. He married the love of his life, Janice Bidwell, a beauty queen, on August 18, 1946 in Reno, NV. He had a press photographer in tow, an entourage, and youth on his side. The two had a happy and tumultuous life together. They raised three daughters; Candy, Cooky, and Honey (deceased), teaching the girls how to live life to its fullest! Bozo's path in business was as colorful and diverse as all the other aspects in his life. He sold newspapers on the street corner as a boy, ran bets for gamblers as a teen, became a bar owner, entertainer, and entrepreneur during WWII and settled in the wholesale liquor business until retirement. A life well lived. Bozo had a legendary zest for the horse races, and never missed a season at Golden Gate Fields and was known to fly to any track on a tip, for the day! Bozo is survived by his daughters Candy and Cooky; son-in-law, Steve Blackman; grandchildren, Zach, Zane, Linzay, and Lacey. A special thanks from the family to Molly, who cared for him the last six years, and made it easier on all of us. A private service was held. There will be a celebration of Bozo's life in the near future. Donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
