I remember Claude, or "Cloud" as Gia-fu Feng and Gi-Ming Shin used to call him, at East-West House on California St. I was the first woman to move into the house of 6 or 7 ex-students of Alan Watts. Claude seemed the most mature, the most centered of all of us, quite appropriate for the role he was later deemed to play in S.F. Buddhist circles. We later met in Kyoto,Japan where many ex-East-West House members wandered to. I send my most heartfelt sympathy to his family.

Although it has been almost 37 years I can still hear his voice chanting " Buddham saranam gacchami....". Ananda will be greatly missed but his voice will continue to be heard.
