November 25th, 2013 was Mehmet's 5th Heavenly birthday. I want to share the following poem with those who knew and loved Met.
Mehmet's Last Request
Please don't say that I gave up, just say that I gave in. Don't say I lost the battle. Please don't say how good I was, but that I did my best. Just say I tried to do what's right, to give the most I could, not do less. Please don't give me wings or halos, That's for God to do. I want no more than I deserve, No extras, just my due.
Please don't give me flowers, or talk in harsh tones. Don't be concerned about me now, I'm well with God, I've made it home. Don't talk about what could have been, It's over and it's done. Just see to all my family's needs, the battle has been won.
When you draw a picture of me don't draw me as a saint, I've done some good, I've done some wrong, So use all your paint. Not just the bright and light tones, use some gray and dark. In fact, don't put me down on canvas, Paint me in your heart. Don't remember just good times, but remember the bad too. For life is full of many things, some happy and some sad; some bitter and some sweet.
But if you must do something, Then I have one last request, Forgive me for the wrongs I've done, And with the love that's left, Thank God for my soul's resting, Thank God for all who love me, And Praise God who loved me best!

Happy 27th Birthday to my Baby Boy! Met brought a great deal of love and joy too many in his short 24 years on this earth. He is now one of the tallest angels in heaven and also one with the brightest smile. It seems like just yesterday that he was dancing around the kitchen of a dear friend impatiently waiting to do what he loved most – Eat! I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity to know Met as my son and friend. I have truly been blessed to have three beautiful, successful and awesome children. As a mother I could have never prayed for better children. Thank you God for loving me so much!!!!!!!!

Its been some time since my little brother went home. I still mourn, I know he is in a good place because I have peace, but of course I still love him and miss him and always will. I want to thank everyone for their kind words. It makes me smile knowing he is still remembered.

I found about Mehmet while trying to locate his dad Paul on internet. I'm truly sorry for The Dawkins Family's loss. May Mehmet rest in peace and May God bless your family.
I knew Paul in Istanbul, Turkey. We were good friends. I left Istanbul for good in 1989 and moved to US. I've been living in Reno Nevada since 1989. I've lost contact with Paul since 1987 or 1988 due to my travels. I'd love to get in touch with him again, we're old friends. I'm enclosing my contact info. Whoever reads this, would you please relate this info. to Paul.

I have just found this sad event while searching in the net to find the track of Mehmet's father Paul Lamar Dawkins. God bless MEHMET. As a Galatasaray fan, I would like to pass my condolence to Eva & Paul who was our legendary basketbol player in Turkey in 1980.

A Poem for Met
Who could have known, you would leave us so fast. I know you’re in heaven, but I still feel sad. When I heard the news, all is could do was cry. We had so much more to do, I’m not ready to say goodbye.
I can’t begin to understand, constantly asking why. I know for sure, God just received a new angel in the sky. Met you are a fighter; you fought hard to the very end. Your memory will live on, in the hearts of siblings and friends. No more pain for you, fly to heaven and be free. R.I.P young man, one day, together again we will be.

I am a Galatasaray fan.
I am very sorry. His father's Paul Lamar Dawkins was played basketball for Galatasaray at 1984-85-86. Mehmet was brother us. Accept my condolences.
