I knew Pat Howey when he was probably 17 or 18 years old and played against him at the Corning (NY) Bowl Billiards Lounge in the mid sixties. I also played against him when he visited my step-grandfather?s pool room in Wellsboro, PA when visiting his aunt, uncle and cousins who ran a restaurant there and is still family-run today.
Unfortunately, I left the northern tier of PA in the late sixties so lost contact with Pat except what his cousin Dave Howey would tell me about his billiard achievements through the years. I knew from the first time I played with Pat that he had tremendous potential and that time would prove me right. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and my heartfelt condolences go out to the family.

To all who knew Patrick. What an amazing person he was. My earliest memory of my brother was the day he came to the Steinberg's farm to see his little sisters. We were way down in the field. With tenderness he called out to Porky and Punchy (aka. Kathreen and Kathleen). We had no idea of his visit and wondered who in the world would be yelling out loud "P-O-R-K-Y, P-U-N-C-H-Y!" Only God knows why he chose that as their nickname. We had a really nice visit with him. It was all too short. The second visit was when my sisters and I went to revisit Watkins Glen where we were born and raised...till leaving to live in Louisiana. He took time to come see us. We were older and at that point newly married. I was pregnant with my daughter, Kaleena, and didn't even know it yet! My impression of him was always how kind and caring he was. What a great smile! Finally, I want to say that I would have loved to have known him better. God understands what the circumstances of our lives were that kept us separated. God's grace will allow us to be together forever and never to be separated again. See you soon Patrick!

Over the last 25 years Pat and i played some great pool matches. He always pushed my game to the limit, which made me a tougher player and for that i will always be thankful. May God watch over you forever.

Here's a photo from a charter we took late summer of 97. I was as impressed with his skill on the water as his skill on a pool table. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family.

I came across this page today and am so glad I did. My dad was a great man who touched so many people and he told me how many people impacted his life too. Dad talked more in the past few years about his life and past and did alot of reminiscing.
I miss my dad horribly. I woke up today missing him and went to sleep missing him but I know he is ok now and happier and I told him I would be ok and would see him again. Dad really found out what he believed in through this trial with cancer. He believed in a good God and through his suffering he found comfort and peace through prayer and talking with God. He told me after getting a positive catscan result one time that he saw a cloud shaped like a heart and he knew God put it there just for him.
The wonderful thing about having Pat as a father is I have so many good memories of my time with him. People say remember your good times with him and fortunately that is easy because the time with my dad was almost all good. He was a wonderful father and of course great singer, fisherman, pool player, all those things, so many wonderful ways to remember this one person, Pat. And I do believe he is up there doing the things he loves and I wouldn't be surprised if he is also praying for all of us to be ok. That was dad, always praying for others, the past few years he has made that a priority.
I can go on and on and maybe I will start a diary of my thoughts for myself and to keep dad close. I know God is real and I know God loved Dad and Dad loved God and that is the most important thing ever. When my dad got really sick at the end here, I believe God said come with me and rest and as much as I wanted him to stay, I have to be ok with that because Dad deserved to not suffer. It was time for him to relax in peace. Love you always Dad, Amy

Amy. My wife and two sons along with friends from Illinois have gone fishing many times on Lake Ontario with Capt. Pat. It was a special time for Suzie and myself to take the time 3 years just before Christmas to visit with Pat while we were in Florida. Now it is a memory of your father, I will always have. We lost a son almost 11 years ago and I just hope he went fishing with your Dad this week. I will miss the almost daily emails your father sends me the most.
We will hold his memory in our hearts forever; knowing that he now rest in peace.

There isn't enough room to write all that can be said about Pat. Everything he taught me on and off the pool table will never be forgotten. What a wonderful man! He's now somewhere playing a mean game of 45-ball with Jimmy Greco with Tony Vaccaro betting on the game! God bless them all...til we meet again!

Pat was such a fantastic guy! I have so many fond memories of playing pool with him in so many different tournaments and places. He was always willing to help me with my stroke or work on my break. I also enjoyed playing poker and euchre games with him and the gang as well. Now, singing with him, that was just a blast! Pat was man of many talents.....oooh so talented. I have so many very good memories that I will hold with me forever while he rests in peace!

I didn't know a lot about Uncle Patrick. But I do know that he was a fighter...he wasn't going to let the cancer get him down and in fact lived years longer than the doctors said that he would. He was also a kind, loving and Godly man. I am happy he gets to spend eternity with Jesus!

Hello Amy. Jim Marchese here up in NY. I remember you when you were just a baby coming to Ridge Billiard Lounge. Your dad & mom always took time out to play and teach me this wonderful game called Pool. Your dad often passed playing games with guys his equal to spend some time with me to help me learn this game. I have missed him over these last few years and now I will miss him until we all meet again.

Pat touched my life and was an inspiration on and off the pool tabel. He always supported and encouraged me to sing while playing in pool tournaments at Nortons but I never had the privledge of hearing him sing. Knowing him and being friends with him has provided me with many wonderful memories. We were all very fortunate to have him in our lives and he will be missed dearly! God bless you - Pat!

Pat was my friend and mentor. He was one of the GREATEST 14.1 pool players ever. Unfortunately he didn't realize his full impact on his friends, family and competitors until his passing. We will all miss him.

Uncle Patrick, it's been so long since I've seen you. I hope you knew that I called you, the night before you left this world, to tell you I love you. I told Amy to hug you for me. I hope you felt my prayers and love. I'll always remember this picture of us (25 years ago)...I wasn't even 1 year old yet..I miss you. I love you. I can't wait to see you again someday.

Everything I knew about Uncle Patrick was good. I am glad he was on this Earth because he had a positive impact on everyone, and he will be missed a lot. I'm glad he is in a better place now with the Lord. :)

Me and Uncle Patrick didn't talk a lot, but we did have a relationship. And what I did know about him was that he was a great, caring guy, who's soul will live on forever. :)

Dear Patrick, My heart is heavy that you are now gone, and my regret is that I never had the opportunity to 'grow up' with you and experience life with you. I do know that you were my brother and you loved me and my sisters very, very much. You loved life, family, friends and God. You were an awesome fisherman and pool player. You'd call me "Sweetheart" when we'd talk on the phone and that always made me feel happy inside. I don't know why, but it just did. When we saw each other for the last time, before Mom died, I couldn't believe I was actually with you again after all those years. You treated Kevin and I like we were the best people you ever knew. I think you were like that with everyone...making them feel special. I wish I had more memories of you, but life's circumstances didn't allow that. But every memory I do have of you is of happiness, laughter, and warmth. You were a kind, courageous, talented, and beautiful, man. And I know you were loved and respected by those that were blessed to know you. I know you are with Jesus now, healthy and happy for all eternity. I love you Patrick. Your Sis, Gail
