Hey Uncle Sal, miss you. I'm so happy you are in a better place now. I think about you when I play wiffle ball. I remember the time I hit your cigarette in your mouth with the ball and sparks flew everywhere. I said "sorry Uncle Sal!" And you laughed and said "That's OK, it was pretty cool". Miss you Love Joe Mancuso Jr.

I cannot believe I have been without you for a year now. However, you loving, beautiful smile is still in my heart. At least once a day another fond memory of our time together crosses my mind, and I can't help but smile, and cry a little. I love you and miss you so much.

Though some days have past, not one goes by without my husband, Vince (Sal's brother) speaking of his ever so missed younger brother. We laugh, cry and know he is in a better place. Sal's joy of life was reflected spending time with him through the years, whether it was at a family party, on the phone or a funny story he told, there were smiles all around. Sal will be missed and loved forever.

I, unfortunately, was only blessed with knowing Sal and part of his family for a brief period. But, Sal and his family made me feel as if I had known them all my life. Sal was such a high energy, full spirited person, full of life, love and a great sense of humor. He was constantly teasing, joking, and making everyone laugh. He loved his children, granddaughter, family and friends with all he had. He loved making others laugh, could sing his heart out, and was a good person with an enormous heart of gold. I was shocked to hear the incredibly sad news of his passing. To all his family, just know that he is at peace and now a guardian angel to all those he loves so much. My heart and prayers are with you all.

Every time Sal walked in room people would gravitate towards him and he had a smile that would light up even the darkest of rooms. There are no words to express how his passing will affect lives of the many he had touched in his short but fully lived life. I can find comfort in knowing that he has found that "stairway to heaven". Sal, you truly taught me how to love and how to be loved, you will forever be in my heart. I know the heavens have gotten that much brighter now that you have joined our Father for the next chapter in your life. May you finally be at peace and know we all will be thinking of you everyday. I will forever live by the simplicity of your wise words, "it is what it is", and look forward to the day when we will be together again.

When I heard about Sal, my heart just dropped; Sal was my cousin- we were the same age. I grew up knowing him as a smart, funny, charming boy gushing with charisma. The best way for me to honor his memory is to remember all the fun times we shared. I hope you don’t mind me recalling a few…

Often, my grandparents would inform us, “The Mancusos are coming!” This news to us kids might as well have held equal significance to that of the D-Day Normandy beach landing. When it came to their visits- anything was possible: ambush, property destruction, hand-to-hand combat, medical evacuations, and of course decimation in their path as they exited! I remember one time Sal was sitting on the edge of a forklift and one of his brothers was manning the other end…. Needless to say, just the very words “forklift” and “Mancuso” in the same sentence will always elicit a bruise or a trip to the ER. Routinely, my grandfather would have to quarantine the Mancuso boys from using the intercom system in our store. This would normally deter at least one of the kids from either singing or belching throughout the store in high decibels. These were just a few, but looking back, I had so many memories with Sal. They were all filled with laughter, mischief, and wonder. Time spent with him always made me feel like I had an extra brother around.

Sal, my deepest heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this trying time. May you find solace, strength, and peace.

Love Always,

Tonya Winkelmann Lang

Sal was the youngest of three boys from his mother's first marriage. At that time there were Joe Jr. the oldest, Vince and Sal; throughout the family lovingly termed as "Tornado Lightning and Thunder" I remember as a child it was so exciting when the three would come to visit. You just had no idea what they were going to do next but you knew it was going to be fun and everyone was going to get in big trouble!

Sal was always good for a laugh, it came second nature for him to make people laugh without even thinking.

Often he would say something in jest with such a serious stoic look on his face that he had you lingering in bewilderment until he let you realized he was joking by cracking a smile.

Sal did some cameo appearances in the PhoneJax series where people listened to him do his comedy skits that were just hysterical. Much of it was adlib but he was fast and sharp with his rhetoric and the series was cherished by many.

I’m sure everyone will remember him for his awesome and sometimes bizarre sense of humor but most of all his uncanny ability to still have people laughing even today as they recollect in their minds their favorite memories they shared with him.

I believe it was Sal's nature to want us laughing with memories and celebrating his life as we also celebrate his future in peace.

To Sal, thank you for giving us those memories and sharing your life with all of us in such a way that we can still find brief moments to smile and laugh within the deep sadness we experience for your loss. May God bless your soul and may you live in peace for eternity.... Until we laugh together again, M.

Words cannot even describe the shock and sorrow over losing such a young and vibrant man. Sal is one of my oldest & dearest friends. He’s been in my life so long, that it’s hard to imagine life without him. Most of all, I’ll miss his witty sarcasm. He always cracked me up, no matter how inappropriate his humor. Sometimes, that was the beauty of it. Every time I hear Sinatra, or Metallica, I’ll think of him. What a character! ! !
To his kids; I will pray for strength.

My deepest sympathy to your family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
