Rita Wesbrock Obituary

Rita Lorraine (Edmunds) Wesbrock, age 78, of Somonauk formerly of Aurora, went to be with the Lord on Saturday March 1, 2008 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law after a courageous nine year battle with cancer, heart disease and diabetes. She was born September 24, 1929 in Elmhurst Il., the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Kelly) Edmunds.

Rita came to Aurora after marrying the love of her life, Joseph L. Wesbrock from West Chicago, IL in 1945.

She worked in the Aurora area at Anchor Brush, was manager of the S&H Green Stamp Redemption Store in downtown Aurora in the 1960's. She & her husband owned and operated Gravely Tractors in Geneva in the 1980's.

Rita spent many wonderful times with family and friends playing cards, bowling, camping, bow hunting and traveling.

She is survived by her daughter, Rita and her husband Raymond J. Tuma of Somonauk, IL; her son, Robert J. and wife Dawn (Meiller) Wesbrock of Packwaukee, WI; five grandchildren, Joseph and wife Carrie (Griffin) Tuma of Naperville, IL, Shawn (Tuma) an husband Mark Barbush of Lansing, IL, Marissa Tuma of Lake Holiday, Somonauk, IL; Jennifer (Wesbrock) and husband Todd Evers of Naperville, IL, Jason and wife Chris (Meszaros) Wesbrock of Cortland, IL; six step grandchildren, Rachel Drucks of Packwaukee, WI, Rebecca (Kevin) Schwochert of Baraboo, WI. Penny (Denny) Baker of Beloit, WI, Kathy (Ron) Rubo of Lakeland, FL, Dean (Patti) Tuma of Verbena, AL and Susie (Marty) Nally of Yorkville, IL; nine great-grandchildren, Callie and Caelyn Tuma of Naperville, IL, Nyree Pruneda of Lansing, IL, Charles Willman of Aurora, IL, Edward Tuma and Travis Seidelman of Somonauk, IL, Jordan McDowell of Montgomery, IL, Margaret Evers of Naperville, IL and Rachel Wesbrock of Cortland, IL; eight step great-grandchildren, Summer Drucks of Packwaukee, WI, Christopher and Sadie Schwochert of Baraboo, WI, Autumn and Morgan Baker of Beloit, WI, Shannon and Michael Nally of Yorkville, IL and Zachary Tuma of Verbena, AL.

Other survivors include two special nieces, Diane (Sam) Dissell of Somonauk, IL and Donna (Robert) Harris of Yorkville, IL along with many other nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Lang of Wheaton, IL; her beloved friend since the age of 13, Patricia Blasing of Aurora, IL; dearest friends, Angelo and Betty Thomas of Yorkville, IL; three special people she refers to as her "adopted kids", Diane (Charles) Graf of Aurora, Jan Stech of Aurora, IL, Beth (Andy) Rozek of Quincy, MA, Thomas Tuma of Somonauk, IL and all her special friends from Rush-Copley Healthplex Arthritis Swim Class and Alden of Waterford Apartments.

Those who went home to be the Lord before her were her beloved husband, Joseph L. Wesbrock in 1988, two grandchildren, Thomas Tuma in 1968 and Marie Tuma in 1969; her parents, Robert Edmunds in 1945 and Margaret "Nanny" Edmunds in 1987 and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

The family wishes to thank the outstanding staff of Hillside Rehab and Care Center for their wonderful loving care, compassion and support, Vitas Hospice Team 805, the staff at Comfort Keepers; her special helpers, Francis Muscari of Oswego, IL, Patty Medina of Aurora, IL, and Jennifer Smith of Aurora, IL, the physicians at Dreyer Medical Clinic, especially Dr. Ronald Bosh and Dr. Houlahan.

The last months Rita spent every waking minute reminiscing and sharing memories and stories of her entire life with family, friends and caregivers. Her life's closure was a spiritual loving inspiration to all. Rita has left a legacy of love and touched so many lives. She will be remembered for her deep love of family and friends, her giving nature, fighting spirit, her sense of humor and her beautiful smile. Rita left us knowing how much she was loved. She will be deeply missed by so many.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 9 AM at our Sugar Grove Chapel to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Tuesday on March 4, 2008 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL. Interment will be at Marywood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the organization of your choice.
