Ruth Young Obituary

YOUNG, Ruth
Passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2004 after a 22-month battle with brain cancer. She was 2 days shy of her 74th birthday. Born in a farmhouse in rural Cody, WY, Ruth moved to CA after marrying Bill Young. During their life together they lived in many places throughout northern CA and after a 20 year stay in Hawaii, permanently moving to Fair Oaks to be with their family. Ruth and Bill had 53 years together loving, laughing, traveling, and building strong reputations for their understanding and tolerance. Ruth was a wonderful mother and was always available to help many young people with her positive, caring and supportive attitude. With her characteristically strong resolve, Ruth returned to college and graduated from Loma Linda University at the age of 44 and entered the work force. She worked 10 years at Leahi Hospital in Honolulu as a Medical Records Administrator and afterward started her own business, RY Health Info Systems. Retiring in 1995 to Fair Oaks, Ruth was active in P.E.O. and the Rollingwood Sports Club. Ruth joined a walking group and together with her dear friends, participated in walking marathons and fun getaways. She particularly enjoyed walking along the American River Bike Trail along Lake Natomas. Ruth leaves her loving husband, Bill; daughters, Ann and Cheryl; son, Bill Jr.; six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Ruth's grace and tenderness touched all those who knew her and she was greatly loved as a wife, mother, grandmother and companion to her many friends. She will be greatly missed. Memorial services to be held at Ananda, 10390 Coloma Rd. Suite E, Saturday, April 17th at 11:00am. Reception follows at Bluff Lane Clubhouse at 2:00pm.

For nearly eight years we knew Ruth as a fun member of our dance group, informal parties and discussions, and so forth. A short time, but we regarded her as family. Our deepest sympathy to Bill and family
