Glen Houdersheldt Obituary

Glen Houdersheldt 12/10/37 ~ 2/16/07 Glen F. Houdersheldt, of Sandy, Utah died February 16, 2007 of cancer. Born in Sioux City, Iowa to Glen and Olga Houdersheldt. He grew up in Wayne, NE and lived in Omaha, NE and Las Vegas, NV. A graduate of the University of South Dakota, he also received a Masters from Northern Arizona University. Glen was a teacher, coach, insurance agent and a passionate genealogist. He is survived by his wife, Pam of 42 years; daughter, Amy Robertson, and her husband, Joe, their children, Jessica, Courtney, Alyssa and Chase; daughter, Amber Anderson, and her husband, Morgan, and their children, Kendyl and Emmry; sister, Cher‚ Schroeder, and her husband, Paul; nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; cousins; and friends. Thank you to all those who supported Glen and his family during his illness. The family will receive visitors 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 21st, at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 E. Creek Road (8000 S), with the funeral service immediately following at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Murray City Cemetery. Cannon Mortuary, funeral directors.

Mr Houdersheldt was my 9th grade teacher and coach. When we first realized he was our PE teacher we tried to change teachers because even in the winter he had us run the park and do calisthenics. He took a real interest in all of us. He personally helped train me for track and made me better than I ever thought I could be. He was tough but fair and made accountable. He was definitely one of my role models and he will be missed.

To Glen's family,
I will always cherish Glen's visits to our house, travels to Milfold and Lincoln, and the bug he gave me for genealogy. Without his and Chere's constant quest for family knowledge, we would have never met the amazing Glen Houdersheldt!! Michael has special memories of Glen, Pam, Chere' and Paul - visits to the Spaghetti Works, rides in his RTV, and also visits here. We are so blessed to have known the special qualities that made Glen the man he was.

May you find comfort that Glen is in heaven, reminiscing and recalling events with all the hundreds of family ties he has made over the years. Can you just imagine the joy he is having actually meeting face to face, all the history he worked so hard to find for our benefit!!

I will miss your handsome face, my dear cousin. Your work and dedication over the years to preserve our family history was nothing short of a miracle. What a legacy to leave our family. I appreciate it so much. My heart aches for Pam, Amy, Amber and your grandchildren. I know how their hearts must ache right now. I also know you are singing with the angels in heaven today. I hope your folks, my folks and my brother (Dick) were there to meet you at heaven's gate. You will be missed by all here on earh, but we will see you one day soon Glennie.
