Isadore Weitz Obituary

Isadore H. Weitz - SAVANNAH - Isadore H. Weitz, 93, passed away Friday, June 15, 2007 at his home in Savannah. Mr. Weitz, a lifelong resident of Savannah was the son of the late Louis and Rose Weitz. He served in the United States Army during World War II. For many years Isadore served as President of Friedman's Art Store. He was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob Synagogue, Past Commander of American Legion Post #184, a member of the Brotherhood, the JEA and various other business and civic organizations. Mr. Weitz was preceded in death by his former wives, Bernice Weitz of thirty-seven years and Shirley B. Weitz of twenty-eight years; he was the last surviving child of his seven siblings. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Helen Weitz, Julian and Jean Weitz, all of Savannah and Robert and Laurie Weitz of Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Michael Blass and wife Eleanor, Dr. Alan Weinstein and wife Rene and Edward Levin and wife Debbie, all of Atlanta; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the team of caregivers who have been there to assist Mr. Weitz during his recent illness. Graveside Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Bonaventure Cemetery with Rabbi Avigdor Slatus officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob Synagogue, 5444 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Georgia 31405 or the Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn Street, Savannah, Georgia 31403.
