Dear Family of Paul Marion Stoupenos,
My sisters and our families recently visited Savannah's Tye-Bee-Island, and purchased several items of Paul's City Logo. His story blessed our hearts, and we have continually thought of you all. Though it has been some time since his passing, we sympathize for your loss. May we meet again someday.

May you always walk in sunshine and God’s love around you flow, for the happiness you gave us, no one will ever know, it broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, a part of us went with you, the day God called you home. A million times we've needed you. A million times we've cried. If love could only have saved you. You never would have died. The Lord be with you and may you rest in peace. Amen

We have so much to thank Paul for. He was a best friend, someone you could always count on and an inspiration to us all. We have so many fond memories of Paul such as saving turtles on the way to Tybee, working on the bug at Fairmont, spur of the moment road trips, low country boils, and traveling through Europe together. Morgan and I would not be who we are today without Paul and for that we will always be grateful. Thank you Paul. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stoupenos family - We love you.

I moved away from Savannah a couple of years ago, and saw Paul a lot less than I would have liked to. But whenever I came to Tybee I would always try to make it by the store just to say hello. Paul always had time to chat and joke around. I often came by with friends who had never met Paul before. In the last couple of weeks, as I've spoken to some of them and told them the news, their comments are remarkably similiar to a lot of the ones from people who knew him for years, or decades. That's a pretty special quality, to be able to talk someone for 5 minutes, and for them to instantly recognize you as a good person, as someone you would call a friend.
He will be missed.

I'M SURE PAUL'S IN HEAVEN RIGHT NOW, TOGETHER WITH THE REST OF THE ANGELS.IT CAN'T BE OTEHRWISE, 'CAUSE HE WAS A MEMBER OF YOUR GREAT FAMILY.
WE WILL ALWAYS BE HERE, WHEN EVER YOU NEED US.ALL OF US.
BESIDES, YOU KNOW THIS WELL:WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY, WE ARE TOO, WHEN YOU SUFFER, WE SUFER WITH YOU.BE STRONG....

To the entire Stoupenos family and everyone who knew Paul, my greatest sympathies. What a wonderful person Paul was. So hard to say was...Paul was so larger than life...maybe to large for this life, and now he has gone on to something bigger and better. I will miss Paul, anytime I was in Savannah to visit family, Paul always had time when we dropped in on him. Always had time for a capt and coke and conversation. I have read through all of the letters posted here, and what a testament to his family that he was such a warm, thoughtful, caring, wonderful person. It doesn't make up for the grieving and pain that his passing has caused, but I hope that it gives you some comfort and relief to see how he touched so many lives. I know that I am a better person for having known him. I will always remember our "Pit Parties" dinner every Monday night with "Player Paul from Across the Wall". He is loved and he will be so greatly missed.

He always saw the brighter side of life laughing, giving, and loveing. Paul was a best friend to everybody and knew no strangers. His genius was in his art, his comic relief, his adoration of his family and friends. I will always treasure him, talk about him, and pray for him.

Paul saw the world in a different and special way. He could see a solution to any problem and would see art in everything around him. He would make the best of every situation and got his own joy from seeing the smiles of his family and friends. My sympathy goes out to you, and I was blessed to know Paul. May his beautiful traits live on in all of us. God bless.

Paul was always happy, a true optimist, who lived life to the fullest. I cannot help but believe his enthusiam stemmed from having the love, support and security of such a close family. The Stoupenos family is a rare example of what a family ought to be, and Paul was as fortunate to have Marion, Leah, Loukia and Vicki as they were to have him. Chris Robertson introduced me to Paul back in 1997. I worked with Paul and Loukia at Christy's that summer, my favorite job to date. We remained friends while we were at UGA together and throughout the time he dated my best friend, Evie. Paul was a one of a kind guy who will not be forgotten. My prayers are with you.

A Friend

September 17, 2008

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what is to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's fast,
For some the journey's slow.
Paul’s journey has come to end,
But claimed with great reward,
For He has found everlasting peace,
Together with Thy Lord.

Paul and I met through the same circle of friends after highschool, he knew almost everyone I knew, he has so many friends. Even after leaving Savannah for New Orleans; everytime i would be home, i would call him and We hung out together.
I loved seeing him, he always had the greatest stories about meeting Antwan Patton's mom (Outkast), about his travels to Amsterdam, and about the new Design Project he was working on. He loved his pets, Bosco, Lola..any animal actually, even my daschunds... He was so talented and kind. He looked after my brother Mike for me when my mother passed. He was part of our family! One night after we went downtown to Pinky Master's together; he said We should go to Miami, i thought he was joking but he convinced me to get my things and the next morning i woke up in the car, We were in Ft. Lauderdale and he pulled up to a barber and cut all his long hair.... short! We danced on South Beach and relaxed for the rest of the weekend. We had the best time! He was spontaneous, funny, generous, charming, caring and a whole lot of fun!
I will forever miss you...and I will always Love you!

There are really no words to describe how deeply we grief for our loss and I can't even imagine how hard this is for you, who lived with him every day. It is just so unfair! He was such a live fellow. When I heard about it, I just couldn't believe it and I often find myself hoping that somehow the phone will ring and we'll be told that this didn't actually happen.
Just know that our love and sympathy accompanies you into making this loss a little more bearable.

My mind swirls with all the playful memories we have shared. I am in shock that God would take him now. It doesn't seem fair. He has so much life to live. I am sorry that we didn't stay in touch. Many times driving by I wanted to stop and never did. I regret that now. His face will forever be scetched in my mind and in my heart. His voice will always echo in my ears and bring back all the fun things we used to do as children. I love you all and I am so sorry for your loss and selfishly for my own. I will continue to pray for you all and keep you in my thoughts. God bless and keep you.

Paul was a dear friend to me ever since we met freshman year at Benedictine. I felt really close to him over the years. We've done many things together that I will cherish in memory for the rest of my life, from Grateful Dead shows to our first Metallica show to Beastie boys and spontaneous wild roadtrips. Paul was an extremely affable person. When you met him you instantly like this guy. There is no one like him and never will be. Not only he was a friend but he was also a brother to me. This became a complete shock to me. I wanted to grow old with this man, but in heart and mind I will. I loved him dearly and I will truly miss him.

Jason Bouchea

September 10, 2008

Stoupenos Family,
Paul will be missed by many people. He always asked first about my children when I crossed paths with him and then he would ask about me. Kind is the word that comes to mind when I think of Paul. Love, truth, kindness are all also thoughts. Paul was great and his presence will always be with many for a soul like his will never be forgotten. Peace be with you all.

Matt Seyden

September 10, 2008

Loukia and Family, I love you guys! My heart is broken with the passing of Paul. We planted some flowers and a tree here in Long Beach, CA as tribute to Paul and his life. The world seems smaller without him. Paul always made me laugh and always had a story to tell. He could do voices and pull a prank better than anybody. His laid back style and attitude made him easy to be around and always made the room brighter. He loved his family and Greek Roots and was a wonderful person to have as a friend. His relationship with Loukia was like watching a comedy show. The two of them and their father at work down at Tybee was a laugh riot. I have so many great memories of Paul. I will miss him dearly! Now I have a friend in heaven and I will be talking to Paul all the time. His laughter will shake things up a bit upstairs. St. Peter better be ready! Loukia, Vicki, Mom and dad....I send you peace and love and will be praying for you each day. My brother Tim will be in attendance in my place..Forgive me for not being able to get back to Savannah. God Bless all of us and God Bless My friend Paul. Fondly, Matt Seyden

I have known Paul since playing 4 square at St. James. Our common love was the Volkswagen which we both were SO proud of in high school & which took a while to talk everyone else into! : ) But when they did.... I know that he was very open, sarcastic, traveling, loving, bearded (sometimes), happy, sad, and everything that has to do with his great life - I am surely happy that I am blessed enough to have known him.

I know that I will carry some of his personality with me forever.

For as long as I can remember Paul has been a constant in my life - always willing to help and always making me laugh (usually until I cried). Paul was such an amazing individual. He was a great friend to me for so many years. I can hardly remember a time before I met Paul and feel I am very blessed to have known him. I've never laughed harder than when I was with him. Paul was the light in the room, quick witted and full of life. He truly lived life and never let a moment pass. He traveled all over the world. And when he’d return home, he would share his crazy stories and was so animated I thought I was there with him. I learned more about VW Bugs than I ever thought possible. He rescued me when my car broke down on I-95 south of Darien. Whenever I (or anyone) needed anything you just called Paul. He always had the answer. We are all so lucky to have had him in our lives. I will love him forever and hold onto my memories tightly.

I first met Paul when he became a member of Landrum. Yet I feel like I have known him forever. I will miss him, and I miss him already. My prayers to Marion and all of Paul's family.

Paul was one of the funniest guys I have ever met and one of the most creative as well. I met Paul first while working at Olympia Cafe and then had the pleasure of attending class with him at SCAD as we studied graphic design.

Paul was a great guy that would give you the shirt off his back. I would run into him on Tybee once and a while after BC. He was always cheerful. A brother mason that will be missed.

Mr. and Mrs. Stoupenos, Loukia, Vikki and Family,

We had the pleasure of living right next door to Paul for the past year and felt totally blessed to have such a kind, caring, friendly man as our neighbor. He always had time to ask how we were doing and to play or give a gift to our 2 year old son who adored "Mr. Paul". We are so sorry for your loss and hope that if we can ever be of help, you will stop by. God Bless...
