An Extra Yearbook Picture

A picture of Michael J. Horn is featured in the Lehigh College yearbook in 1993. It was a nice tribute, considering Mr. Horn was in high school at the time.

Mr. Horn, from Lynbrook, N.Y., visited his older brother, Charles, so often at Lehigh just to hang out that friends, acquaintances and the yearbook staff assumed he went to school there too.

It was par for the course for the younger Mr. Horn, 27. His looks opened doors, but his charisma, zest for life, and supreme confidence gave him a grand entrance wherever he went and made him a welcome fixture. A software support technician for Cantor Fitzgerald, he loved to camp and ski, and spend time outdoors.

He had a big network of friends, who were accustomed to his practical jokes. He left amusing phone messages for friends, singing songs he had written, and putting on accents. He liked to entertain himself, and people around him.

"He's not one of those guys who wanted to conquer the world — he wanted to enjoy life," said his brother, Charles H. Horn. "He was a good guy with a great heart."

Profile published in THE NEW YORK TIMES on December 13, 2001.
