They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

We are deeply saddened by my brother's tragic death. Anyone that knew him, knew of his intelligence, and dedication to truth and his country. Michael was an extremely intelligent child. He began reading books at 3 years old. Michael was an altar server at The Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Youngstown, Ohio his entire youth. Michael taught himself the Old Church Slavonic language, Church history, and the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet.

Michael had a love for learning, reading and seeking out new experiences. He would come home from school as a child, go straight to his room and read and study for 4 hours more, oftentimes without taking off his winter coat. Michael was not selfish in his knowledge, he would share his many ideas and views with his friends and create dynamic discussions. While serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Michael would stay and tutor some of his shipmates for the GED High School examination, while his other buddies went into town on leave. Michael was always quick to laughter.

Michael graduated from The Kiski School, a boys prep school in rural Pennsylvania, and later, from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois with a Bachelors in American Studies. One of his great loves was early American History, world governments and political systems. He could identify from memory, all of the battles and commanders of the Civil War and US Revolutionary War by the time he was 12 years old. He was an accomplished journalist with Knight- Ridder News Service, Business Week and others. He was an expert on the U.S. Constitution, our early American heroes, and the early origins and development of our country.

Michael’s last day on earth was spent in the outdoors on a hike in a local canyon that contained surprising small wildlife, a stream, and profuse plant life. Michael always enjoyed the outdoors from an early age, on informal hikes on the family property, from his early camping trips to Northern Canada and his participation with his Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops growing up in Ohio.

We will miss him.

May our Memories of Michael be Eternal.
