Monica Bennett-McConville Obituary

BENNETT-McCONVILLE, MONICA ANNE Born in Pomona, California, on October 2, 1978, Monica lived most of her life in San Diego, where she attended Blessed Sacrament Parish School and University of San Diego High School. She then spread her free-spirited wings to Humboldt State and met her soul mate and love of her life, Daniel McConville. The two returned to San Diego where they married and continued their education. Monica pursued a career in early childhood development and was able to share her nurturing love of children and life as a preschool teacher. She was taken very suddenly on October 30, 2008, from this life and the many who loved her. An environmentalist at heart, her love of nature allowed her to experience the joys of hiking, traveling, snowboarding, water sports, gardening and other outdoor activities which she shared with Dan, her family, and their four Australian Shepherds. Monica also had a great appreciation for her Irish heritage, its culture and traditions. She was our faerie child. Monica is survived by her loving husband Daniel, her parents, Brian and Jeanine Bennett of San Diego, her sister and brother-in-law, Annie and Ryan Duncan, father and mother-in-law, Colin and Candi McConville, her sister-in-law, Jennifer McConville, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in the Bennett and Longeway families and the McConville clan. Viewing will be on Thursday between 3:00 and 8:00 at her parents' home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 7th, at 1:00 at Blessed Sacrament Church followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who would like, donations may be made to the Brian's Scholars Foundation through Blessed Sacrament Parish School.

Dear Bennett-Mcconville family, I thing of Ms.Bennett daily when i go to pick up my daughter Catherine at the Grey Rabbit pre-school. Ms.Bennett and i had so many long talks. Catherine loved being a "Piglet" Ms.Bennett was always so kind to her & so very understanding. I would go into her class daily and talk her ear off. her positive attitude gave me such inspiration. I loved having Catherine in her class. Her passing was so devastating to all. The Grey rabbit lost its special angel who brightened the school. We miss her terribly. My daughter still talks of buying the 7-11 slurpee for Ms.Bennett. My prayers are with you.

Dear Mrs. Bennett, Annie, and McConville family,

I got the news of losing Monica the same day as finding out about Dr. Bennett. It saddens me deeply that the family has to go through so much in such a short amount of time. I still remember the days of babysitting the girls - cannot believe the time that has past. I keep you all in my prayers nightly and hope that you keep the faith and the strength needed to make it through this time in life. No words can help heal the pain, just know that you have two GREAT angels watching over you!

Love always~

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Mrs. Bennett & Annie,

Please know that I think and pray for both of you every day. Your loss of Monica, and now Dr. Bennett, is something for which only loving prayers and time can heal.

Your entire family has touched my life in so many ways, and there aren't words big enough to express my gratitude. Nonetheless, thank you.

The memories of both Monica and Dr. Bennett will continue to be some of my very fondest while growing up. It was his enterprising and perseverant spirit that has inspired me to life my own life with such gusto over the years!

Please accept all my very best for a peace-filled 2009.

Dear Brian and the family,

I wanted to share how fortunately my younger son, Ryan McClellan was in her class for a year at a private pre-school. Monica always had a faith in him, who later was diagnosed as Autism, would be able to speak. (He did through by her!) The best part of was that she always shared the exciting news whenever I came to pick him and his older brother, Dylan up about the conversation he was sharing the with her.

Not only sharing the conversion with her, she came and supported me at Ryan's Individual Education Program (IEP) It meant me a WHOLE a lot to my family and especially Ryan. He adored her very much, so do I!

She will always remember as one of the greatest people who had impacted in Ryan's life. Her affections, beautiful smiles and beliefs will be missed by us.

Monica was always the most amazing person. Such enthusiastic, positive, and always smiling.
Over the past 5 years she was a pre-school teacher to both of my daughters, Novalee & Samara. They love her SO much.
When they started at Grey Rabbit and met her they both decided that they would do whatever they had to, to be in her piglet classroom. She is the reason why they quit wearing diapers. They wanted to be around her that much.
I know how much she wanted to have children. I always told her she would be such an amazing mother. She showed that in the way that she loved each and every child that she knew. She is just one of those unforgettable people.
My daughters and I will never forget Mrs. Bennett. I am sad for her family and especially her husband.
I added a photo of Samara and Mrs Bennett taken on Samara's last day before going off to kindergarten. It was taken this August 08.

Samara would like me to say she'll never forget Mrs. Bennetts happy smile and pretty hair.

Novalee would like me to say she will always remember how nice Mrs. Bennett was.

My daughter Samara and her favorite teacher ever.

Sadly, with the greatest of loves come the deepest pains. I'm shocked by the news. I will always remember Monica and Annie playing together next door, hearing their laughter over the fence, and seeing the looks exchanged over giggles that only sisters understand. My heart is breaking for you, Annie, as I know too well the sudden loss of a sister. Nothing in the world compares to someone that has walked every step of life from birth at your side. A baby sister knows no world without her big sister in it for she has always been there.
It is a unique pain, especially when at times like these it may have been more comfortable to nestle at her side and let her take the lead with all the people.
Trust in Monica. Let yourself believe in little miracles. A proud big sister never leaves. She will always walk with you, and I promise, she will find ways to talk to you, laugh with you, and send her love to you.
Two little houses side by side, two little families, each with two little girls, and now two little angels. I will never understand why this happened to us, and despite the unbeatable Blessed Sacrament education, I've never been a religious person. But this much I do know.... big sisters always take the next step first, but they never leave you.
My deepest condolences to all of you. My heart breaks with you.
