Sean P. Fennerty's brother, Conor, said Sean loved food and drink _ especially Pabst Blue Ribbon beer _ and making impulse purchases at the grocery store. His younger sister, Colleen, said Sean loved "chick flicks," took 30 minutes to wake up, and gave big bear hugs. His mother, Maureen, said her son loved Harry Potter books and cried easily _ a simple man who was "so proud to be a soldier." Fennerty, 25, of Corvallis, Ore., was killed by a roadside bomb Jan. 20 in Anbar province. He was assigned to Fort Richardson. He adored the Oregon State Beavers _ he ended every e-mail from Iraq with "Go Beavers!" He also enjoyed working with children as an umpire for Little League games and volunteer with the Police Activities League. He graduated from Oregon State University in 2004 with a degree in history and was a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity. He was steered to Officer Candidate School, but he chose to be an enlisted man. He was "the son every parent wants, the student every teacher wants, the soldier every commanding officer wants," said Gov. Ted Kulongoski. He also is survived by his father, Brian.
