Lana Smith Obituary

Brockton Lana M. (Flood) Smith, 61, of Brockton died April 22 after battling cancer for several years. Native of Whitman, she resided in Brockton for over 40 years and was employed as an intake specialist by Brockton Private Industry Council for over 20 years. Lana was a member of Polish White Eagles and loved to dance, go to the beach, walk along Cape Cod Canal and collect lighthouses. Lana was the beloved mother of Diana L. "DeeDee" Smith of Brockton and the late Darlene Higgins; loving grandmother of Krystle Higgins of New Hampshire and Dakota Marrow of Brockton; great-grandmother of Matthew Ford and Riley Bailey; sister of Christopher Flood Jr. of Plympton, Gary Flood of Wareham and the late Richard Flood; close friend of Pamela DiCarlo; stepsister of Dawn Monahan, Jacqueline Smith and Robert Condon; aunt of many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend to many who in turn were sincere friends to her. All are welcome to calling hours Saturday 1-4 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, with prayer service at 4 p.m., cremation and private burial. I am so sorry to hear that Lana has passed. I have worked with her as her Oncology Case Manager at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. She was a very brave woman and I am honored to have worked with her. I am deeply saddened for your lose.

I am so very sorry to hear that Lana lost her battle. She was so very brave. I worked with her when she first came to CETA, which became PIC. She was a fabulous person to work with and I know she'll be missed. I now live in New Hampshire and haven't seen her for years, but have kept in touch with news from Eleanor. My deepest condolences.
