Edward Hebshie Obituary

Brockton Edward R. Hebshie, 71 years, of Brockton, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born and educated in Brockton, a son of the late Frahat and Josephine (Rafoul) Hebshie, and remained a lifelong resident of the city. For many years, Edward was an associate with Hebshie Brothers Real Estate. He had also been a professional jockey and horse trainer. In his younger years, he was an amateur boxer and was in the Golden Gloves finals for three consecutive years. Edward enjoyed golf and had been a member at White Pines Golf Course in Brockton. He will be remembered by family and friends for his gregarious personality, great smile and always being the life of the party. Mr. Hebshie was most proud of his Lebanese heritage. He is survived by three daughters and a son, Sandra Hebshie of Rockland, Doreen Newcomb of Whitman, Cheryle Guinta of Brockton and Lee McLaughlin of Brockton. He also leaves six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Frederick Hebshie Jr., John F. Hebshie and Helen Henry, all of Brockton, Lila Shaker of Fall River and the late James and Samuel Hebshie, Alma Hinglebine, Mary Ball, Barbara Daly and Nancy Dastous. Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Monday at 9 a.m. followed by the service of the divine liturgy at St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 North Main St., Brockton, at 10 a.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 p.m. with an incense service at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwards name may be made to St. Theresa Church, P.O. Box 2567, Brockton, MA 02305.
