Frederick Day Obituary

Middleboro Frederick Joseph Day, age 71 years, of Middleboro, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Jordan Hospital, Plymouth. He was the husband of Mary E. (O'Rourke) Day. Born in Brockton, son of the late Joseph A. and Beatrice (Locke) Day, he was a graduate of Coyle-Cassidy High School and attended University of Massachusetts Agricultural School. He was a retired trucking supervisor and farmer. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Middleboro. He enjoyed gardening and was known for his mums, which he sold from his farm in South Middleboro for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, music and his yearly trip to Florida. He will be warm-heartedly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Survivors include his wife, four sons, Michael J. Day of Middleboro, Peter J. Day, Frederick P. Day, both of Rehoboth, and Joshua A. Day of Middleboro; one daughter, Kathleen L. Day of Plymouth; one sister, Marion Phelps of Raynham; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held from the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro, Friday at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St., Middleboro, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro.
