John Norkawski Obituary

Bridgewater John F. Norkawski, a lifelong resident of Bridgewater, died on July 2, 2008 at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, in Brockton. He was 84. Born in Bridgewater, a son of the late Peter and Marcella (Grigas). He was a graduate of Bridgewater Academy. He served with the United States Navy during World War II, earning the rank of Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class. John worked as a mason at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Brockton. hospital for 30 years. He was a member of the Bridgewater VFW, the Bridgewater Vet's Club and volunteered for 19 years at the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry in Bridgewater. He enjoyed spending time with this grandchildren and friends. He was the father of Marcella, John, Fontaine, Colleen and the late Ralph; brother of Anne Norkawsk. Also survived by 11 grandchildren. Funeral from the Prophett, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, on Tuesday, at 8:15 a.m. Followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be int he Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours are on Monday, from 4-7 p.m. Prophett, Chapman, Cole & Gleason (508) 697-4332
