Richard Howe Obituary

Brockton Richard Waterman Howe, 92, of Brockton, formerly of Stoneham, died at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Feb. 2, 2008. He was born in Brockton, Jan. 14, 1916, and a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1934. He was also a graduate of Tilton Academy in Tilton, N.H., and graduated from Wentworth Institute in 1938 with a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering. During World War II, he was a civilian flight instructor training bomber pilots. He was an airline captain with Eastern Airlines for 32 years, retiring in 1976. Richard was an avid bicyclist who built custom bicycles. He belonged to the Charles River Wheelmans Club until his mid 80s. Richard was the husband of the late Phyllis Arlene Lowry Howe and lived in Stoneham for 50 years. He is survived by his son, Richard O. Howe of Brockton; his daughter, Carolyn (Carlee) Howe of Buchanan, Va.; his sister-in-law, Eleanor Parker of Dover, Del.; his granddaughter, Megan Trabulsie; and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his nieces, Andrea and Lisa Strout; and nephew, Phillip Strout. A funeral service will be held for Richard and his wife Phyllis at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham, Friday, July 18, at 1 p.m. There are no calling hours. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
