Afonso V. Fraga

Stoughton Afonso V. Fraga, 85, died Wednesday, July 16, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Maria C. (Valadao) Fraga. Born, raised and educated in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he moved to Stoughton in 1966. He was a laborer at Morse Shoe in Canton for several years, before retiring at age 60. He was a member of the San Joao Filarmonica Society in Stoughton. He enjoyed farming, cooking, fishing and whale hunting. Mr. Fraga is survived by his daughters, Teresa Mendonca of South Easton, Gabriela Mendonca and Fernanda Fraga, both of Stoughton. He is also survived by six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, Monday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton, at 9 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 2-5 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
